We live in a time where most people believe the environment is in trouble. Still, we aren't sure to what extent, where the problem lies, and what we can do to help. This is also an era, where individuals and communities in the far-reaches of the globe are connected by the internet. Through global connectivity PEM seeks to bring together all who wish to participate in the stewardship and management of our Earth.

PEM is dedicated to the active management of the Earth's biosphere offering services and products to people and institutions of the world to promote planetary stewardship, and an understanding of the impacts of climate on the future of peoples everywhere.

PEM's mission is:

• to develop technology to reduce uncertainty in small and large-scale carbon budgets
• to create community networks at local scales particularly where the human condition is most impacted by climate change catalyzing mitigation and adaptation efforts
• to equip the youth of the world with the knowledge to deal with shared climatic problems and solutions

Our present management of climatic complexity will determine the global and local-scale realities future generations face under a shared atmosphere. This atmosphere integrates all cultures and economies, spreading localized greenhouse gas emissions over the surface of the planet, creating new climatic landscapes and challenges for all communities.

The radiative burden of atmospheric CO₂ and other green house gases is already upon us. It was set in motion some 100 years ago as the world began a transformation to an energy intensive industrial era---a trend continuing at an unprecedented rate with unknown consequences. Plain and simple, proactive social and planetary scale management strategies are needed, now, to navigate the gyrations of the climate system.
