Planetary stewardship by the youth of all countries is essential to address the global scale features and consequences of climate change. The rapid global mixing of CO2 (e.g., 1 year) coupled with a long atmospheric lifetime (e.g., 100 years) has dissolved the geographic and cultural boundaries in the global greenhouse. The atmosphere, in essence, is the great mixing bowl for the emissions of all humanity and its management will likely require collaboration across vast segments and societies of the planet. We must all Honor the Earth and sound principles of sustainability and cultural preservation.

PEM is developing unique educational programs in planetary stewardship through the Honor Bound Foundation, a 501(c)3. Only the youth of the world can solve the climate change problems facing future generations; they require, however, a common language of climate change science, global policy and humanitarian perspectives. Programs under development include diverse educational initiatives. PEM seeks collaborators, funders, shared educational venues and ideas from around the world to catalyze efforts on behalf of the youth of the planet.

Other Honor Bound Foundation initiatives include:

  • Biosphere M - an interdisciplinary effort focusing on the theoretical and practical aspects of establishing sustainable ecosystems on Mars to support a Mars society. This leads to a question: If we can't manage and repair our own Earth ecosystems, can we hope to establish new ones? Join this informative inquiry and debate. Click here to download "Biosphere M: A Measure of Humanity", a white paper on this subject.
  • The Holocene Project - this effort focuses on specific geographical locations where climate-culture interactions may offer unique insights to future climatic change, impacts and mitigation.
  • Lessons Learned from Biosphere 1 and Biosphere 2 - this effort asks "What have we learned from living on our planet?" Further, what have we learned from small-scale closed and semi-closed experiments designed to replicate features of natural ecosystems AND how might we use such approaches to advance our understanding of ecosystem change and human impacts?

We seek collaborators for our projects and welcome ideas, partnerships and shared activities.
